Currently the depletion of fossil fuels, global warming, environmental pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, among other problems that affect our environment, show us the need for a change in the distribution of our energy matrix towards the use of less polluting and renewable energy, that is, obtained from natural sources.

The increasing costs of fuels, environmental care and quality requirements envision an important horizon for biodiesel as a direct substitute for diesel, partially (in a blend) or totally (B100).

The production of biodiesel on a pilot and semi-industrial scale provides the theoretical, administrative, regional and logistical bases, fundamental for its use as an energy producer and subsequent productive scaling.

Biodiesel is obtained from vegetable oils and is therefore a renewable fuel. A renewable fuel like biodiesel, and the reduction of emissions is a necessity in today's world.

Biodiesel can be manufactured as a high-quality fuel for compression ignition of engines and is widely accepted, particularly when blended into conventional diesel fuel, when produced to specifications already established in Europe and North America.

The problem I'm trying to solve.

Diesel combustion emissions are very harmful to the environment, so an alternative source that is less harmful must be sought.

Used cooking oils that are dumped into sewage systems will eventually return to the ecosystem and negatively affect it.

Attempting to separate this used oil from wastewater requires a large amount of resources and energy.

Solution to this problem:

This project converts new and used oils into biofuels. These biofuels can be used as a cleaner alternative to ordinary diesel, causing less pollution.

Waste oil that is normally dumped into the ecosystem can now be recycled into an alternative energy source.

The project is cheap since the equipment required is not complicated to operate, so students will learn the process of obtaining Biodiesel.

Advantages of biodiesel fuel

The use of biodiesel offers some advantages over traditional fuels from petroleum:

  • Being of plant origin, it is an environmentally friendly fuel.
  • It does not contain sulfur, so it does not contribute to the greenhouse effect. Sulfur is one of the components of diesel oil and, although fuels with a low sulfur content can be found on the market, these variants cause a loss of lubrication that can affect engine performance.
  • Generates fewer emissions of polluting gases and substances harmful to health, such as carbon dioxide, soot or benzene.
  • It can be transported more easily than diesel and is more biodegradable.
